Buffalo Plaid

I am loving this red & black buffalo plaid print this fall! {I also have this vest in the same print!} There are tons of options out there but what sold me on this Mindy Mae's Market version is the polka dot details on the collar & sleeves. I can't wait for it to be cool enough to layer my herringbone vest or black faux fur vest over it!

Of course no outfit of mine seems to be complete without a little leopard print thrown in!
FYI: TJ Maxx has been killing it lately with the brands & styles they have in stock. I have come across so many great posts on Instagram with some amazing finds! Check out one near you & let me know what you find!

Happy Tuesday & let the weekend countdown begin....

Faux Leather Skinny Jeans

I don't know about you, but I am loving the current faux leather trend! I picked up this pair of skinny jeans during a trip to The Limited last week for their Scandal collection debut. I love that they aren't just leggings {they have pockets!} so I can wear them without having to worrying about keeping covered!
Blouse: Target / Boyfriend Blazer: Kohls similar here / Faux Leather Skinnies: The Limited / Striped Purse: Walmart similar here / Gold Loafers & Necklace & Bracelet: Mindy Mae's Market { save 10% on your order with code 'kelsslayt' }

There are so many great faux leather pieces out there right now! I have included several options in different pieces, styles, and price points below. Is this a trend you have joined yet?

Well, I hope you girlies had a great weekend! I took advantage of several sales and used up every last reward & gift card I had to my name. I did take home lots of great stuff! You can see several pieces I scored on my Instagram!

Currently Craving

These are just a few of the pieces that I have added or am hoping to add to my closet in the coming months. Believe it or not, that darling bow bag is from Target! {& it's part of the BOGO sale} Oh Target, you never fail me.

Clearly bows and leopard are still two of my favorite trends! Also, faux fur vests are looking to be another popular item again this year. If you are like me, you sometimes wait too long to pull the trigger on a trend and end up with a lousy selection to pick from {I did that last year with wanting to buy a faux fur vest & not being able to find one I loved}. So I encourage you to snatch up the popular fall trends now while there are still lots of good options out there!

I know we all spend a good amount of time on the Internet and browsing different shops so tell me.... What else are you craving for fall??

Shabby Apple

Get ready girls... to meet your new shopping destination!
As a teacher, it is often difficult to find dresses & skirts that are an appropriate length for standing in front of middle school students. However, I finally hit the jackpot when I found Shabby Apple!

Dress: Shabby Apple c/o / Cardigan: Target similar here/ Boots: Tory Burch via Nordstrom / Hat: American Eagle similar here and here / Watch: Kate Spade / Necklace: Very Jane similar here / Bracelets: Mindy Mae's Market c/o & J.Crew Factory

Shabby Apple was kind enough to send over the Frida dress to kick-start my new collection! This chambray shirtdress has perfect pinstripes, front pockets, & a tie waist. I paired the dress with my favorite autumn colors & these darling boots for a fun fall style. When the temperatures drop, I'll change it up with printed tights or fleece leggings!

 Shabby Apple was founded upon principles that are extremely unique and distinctive! The company mission to help beautify & empower women really caught my attention. Also, perhaps my favorite characteristic of the company is their generosity! They help support women all over the world. I think that's an idea we can all get behind {& shop for}!

With a slightly retro & vintage vibe, Shabby Apple dresses are perfect for the working gal! My next purchase will definitely be the Dakota dress!

Which pretty Shabby Apple dress has caught your lustful eye?

Today's look is quite the bold mix of patterns! Two years ago I would have laughed at the thought of wearing this outfit. However, my style has gradually evolved and I've become far more bold in my outfit choices and the things that I will pair together. I think it's important for our taste to develop and evolve over time & to step our pretty little shoes out of that comfortable fashion box!

Striped Top: Old Navy similar here / Herringbone Vest: J.Crew Factory / Black Skinnies: American Eagle  similar here / Flats: Tory Burch / Leopard Belt: Target similar here / Envelope Clutch: Target similar here, love this leopard one / Watch: Kate Spade

The best tip I can give to those of you hesitant about mixing different patterns is to pick one color palette and stick with it! Black & white is such a classic combo. However, combining different black and white prints is a fun, trendy take on the timeless duo.

Before you go, you MUST check out these flats! I absolutely adore the herringbone print & bow. I just got them yesterday and can't wait to get them on my feet!

Shopping Secrets

My best kept shopping secret? Don't limit yourself to only shopping the women's section! I very proudly own pieces from both the men's & children's sections too. For example, I have men's camo pants {the perfect boyfriend fit}, boy's sweaters from Crew Cuts {much cheaper}, & several vests and tanks from the girl's section. One of my favorite out-of-department purchases? This faux fur vest from the girls section at Target!

Chambray: H&M similar here / Faux Fur Vest: Target kids- in stores only similar here, here, & here/ Maroon Skinnies: Forever 21 similar here / Necklace: Bauble Bar / Bar Necklace: Jane similar here / Cut Out Boots: TJ Maxx similar here and here/ Bow Bag: Kate Spade similar save option, splurge option

I stumbled upon this faux fur vest while searching for this polka dot puffer vest {bought that too}! It's at a perfect price point & is a great fit! This vest is not yet online but I linked several other great options!

Also, I want to mention this fabulous necklace from Bauble Bar. It was my first BB purchase and I absolutely love it! If you've never checked out their jewelry, I encourage you to go look!

I wore this ensemble last night to an event at The Limited with my favorite twins from The Double Take Girls. They were so much fun & have such great style!

Enough of my rambling... Enjoy your Wednesday!!

Outfit Details

Let's talk details.
Small outfit details can really make or break an outfit. They can gussy up a look & take it from plain jane to totally complete! Of course jewelry is an easy way to add to any outfit. Details like cuffed jeans & a half tucked shirt are also ways to change things up a bit!

Top: J.Crew Factory / Skinnies: American Eagle / Ankle Bootes: Target {similar here} / Watch: Kate Spade via Nordstrom / Statement Necklace: Mindy Maes Market / Personalized Necklace: Very Jane {similar here} / Belt: Target / Purse: Forever 21 {similar here}

FYI: I will caution you with the fact that my husband HATES this half tuck look. He gave me the evil eye when I asked him to photograph this outfit for me! (thanks anyways babe!) So if you plan on taking this look for a spin, don't expect it to be a hit with the boys!

On a more positive note, I scored this J.Crew Factory top for a great price during a recent sale. I think it will be super versatile this fall... Wearing it under vests, sweaters, and jackets for a polished look or over a graphic tee for a more fun style!

THE Scarf

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past year, you know just how popular this Zara blanket scarf is! I finally got my hands on it & I'm so happy I was able to snatch one up! One thing you need to understand is just how LARGE this scarf is... Let's just say they don't call it a blanket scarf for no reason.

Jean Jacket: Old Navy / Scarf: Zara {similar below} / White Denim: American Eagle / Leopard Flats: Payless {similar here} / Kate Spade bag {mine is the Kate Spade Villabella Avenue Quinn, a similar version is here}

 This blanket scarf is perfect for chilly football games, bonfire nights, & September afternoons at the outlet mall ;) It can easily be paired with neutrals like I did for this look or you can make it a little more edgy with a biker jacket & mixing prints!
Unfortunately, the Zara scarf is sold out & unless you are willing to pay $100+ on Ebay for the exact version, you might want to check out some of these retailers with similar options here, here & here!

& today is your LUCKY DAY! You have a chance to win a Zara blanket scarf in addition to lots of other goodies (Kate Spade agenda, Starbucks gift card & the Essie Fall Collection)!! Find the details about entering my giveaway HERE!
