Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Try-On Size Guide

Hey girls! I finally received a few of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases in the mail! If you're like me & live no where near an actual Nordstrom store, then you understand my frustration of trying to decide what the quality, sizing, & color are like. So hopefully these pictures [I put together 5 outfits] & info will help guide you on sizing for some of my favorite sale pieces! If you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to comment or shoot me an email :)

First up, this super comfy sweatshirt tunic! It comes in 4 colors & is just under $30. It is super soft! I am 5'7" and this would definitely work with leggings... Plenty of length! I ordered my regular size {small} and it is mostly fitted. I am debating ordering the medium for more of an oversized look. These ripped skinny jeans are a STEAL. They are $37 and have the perfect amount of destruction in the knees! They are currently sold out but I heard a rumor that when the sale goes live to everyone tomorrow they will restock the popular items! However, I will caution you that they are definitely more like a jegging than a jean, despite the product title. Also, you will want to size-up 2 full sizes. I am normally a 26/27 & the picture shows the 27. However, I can't even button these! Ooopps! I will definitely be waiting to order the 28! Lastly, these Vince Camuto booties are a dream! Available in 4 colors they will match everything this fall. I am always a very true size 7. However, I had to get the 7 1/2 in these. Definitely size up!

If you only buy 1 thing from the sale, order THIS tunic. It's $28, runs true to size, and is the PERFECT length for all of those great fall styles! I plan to wear it under this with this faux fur vest, with these faux leather leggings. I also have it in white! I promise, you'll love it! I paired it with these Joe's Skinny Ankle Jeans. They are a great length for tucking into booties since they're an ankle length! I love the dark denim, they are very soft, & super flattering. I also bought my regular size in these! I also purchased this Tory Burch crossbody bag. [It's $140 off it's normal price] The color will pair with so many outfits not just for fall & winter but also year-round. It's the perfect size and holds quite a bit for a cross body! Those are also the same Vince Camuto booties I mentioned above.

This striped tee is one of the best steals of the Nordstrom Sale at under $13. Yes, thirteen dollars! I decided to buy a medium {normal size is a small] because I wanted an oversized look. Well... The body part of the shirt is okay but the arms are still pretty tight! It is currently sold out in a large but I will be stalking the site tomorrow in hopes of grabbing a large to switch it out with! My jeans are the Paige Denim Skyline Skinny. I have never owned a pair of Paige denim but now I understand the raves everyone always has for this brand! HOLY softness. Seriously some of the best denim I've ever felt! They run very true to size, are a great middle-darkness color, and will constantly be worn this fall. Last but not least, Tory Burch riding boots! Last year during the #Nsale I purchased the cognac color & wore them all the time. I knew this year I wanted to snatch a black pair because of how much I loved them. Get your normal size in them! These are always one of the biggest hits of the sale & I can almost promise you that they will vanish quickly tomorrow when the sale goes public! They run true to size, have soft leather, and don't require tons of 'breaking-in' time to be comfy!

Next up is this marled oversized swing tee in navy! It comes in 5 colors, is $30, and runs true to size! This is a size small and is already the perfect amount of oversized! I think this will also be really cute with white denim & sandals as we transition from summer to fall. I am wearing the same Joe's jeans & Tory Burch boots posted above. Also, I grabbed this Kendra Scott necklace. I am a big fan of her jewels and have several pieces. I love how large this particular necklace is! It comes in 8 colors including my favorite fall colors... Emerald green, navy, and maroon! It's marked down from $60 to $39 during the sale. I plan to layer it with a few other Kendra pieces I own :)

I LOVE this zip sweater. It is a great length {can be worn with leggings}, has a side slit, and you can adjust how low the v-neck is with the zipper! I got my regular size in this and had a hard time choosing a color from the 7 options! I went with maroon because it's just the perfect fall color in my opinion :) I wore it with those amazing Paige skinnies, Vince Camuto booties, and Tory Burch bag! I can definitely see myself wearing this outfit in a few months! Also, this exact watch isn't part of the sale but there is a similar 2-tone option here

You can only make purchases at the sale prices if you have a Nordstrom debit OR credit card today. HOWEVER, the sale opens to the public tomorrow! So what you can do if you're unable to shop the sale now, is go ahead & stock up your cart with everything you have your eye on so all you have to do tomorrow is hit purchase :) You might think I'm crazy for even talking about jeans, sweaters & boots when it is 100+ degree outside. I get it. BUT with discounts this deep on brand new fall styles, you will be thanking me come October! Let me know if you have any questions :)  XOX

Current Sales + Prepping For The BIG One!

Hey girls!
I can't believe we have hit the month of July already! I swear, my summer months out of school FLY by much faster than normal. Not fair. However, I am excited to celebrate the 4th of July this weekend! It always means lots of food, time with family, and a really good fireworks show. Of course, there is always a whole week of red, white, and blue fashion too! OH, and most importantly, sales galore!! All of my favorite retailers have great sales going on. I thought it was only right for me to share :)

Forever 21 accessories are 30% off + free shipping with code 'EXTRA30' {I scored this bag & these socks for only $27 shipped!!}

Gap has lots of summer favorites marked up to 50% off

J.Crew Factory has the entire site 50% off + score an extra 20% off with code 'HOTSALE'

Kate Spade is giving you an additional 25% off already marked down sale styles with code 'SETSALE'

Loft has an extra 60% off of already marked down sale styles

Old Navy is giving 30% off + free shipping  with code 'VERYGOOD'

Shopbop's sale section is drool worthy right now! They have just added lots of new goodies!

Now for the good sale news! My absolute favorite retailer has their MASSIVE Anniversary Sale coming up on July 17th. They make huge markdowns on NEW fall styles as well as summer styles. Last year, I purchased Tory Burch boots for $200 off and a gold Kate Spade watch that was 40% off. Seriously good deals on the most popular designers and styles.

Most of the time, big sales at department stores are on current season styles so that they can make space for the upcoming season's trends. However, this is where the Nordstrom sale is different. And WAY better. Lots of the newly released fall merchandise will be included in this killer sale!
Now, the sale opens to the public on July 17th. However, all Nordstrom card {debit & credit} holders get to access the sale early on July 9th! That is NINE whole days of shopping the biggest sale before the general public. Of course last year many of the best deals on new fall merchandise were sold out before the sale went public.

So here is your chance to jump in early to score the best stuff! Sign up now for a Nordstrom card. If you aren't a big fan of credit cards like myself, you can do the debit card. SO easy and convenient. Your purchases will just be withdrawn from you bank account so you don't have to worry about making any payments or even more scary, missing a payment! It links up to your checking account just like your regular debit card. But the Nordstrom card has special powers.. Like getting you into a sale early ;) I promise it is SO worth it to have a Nordstrom card. Whichever kind you choose. There are several other perks to holding a Nordstrom card:

>> Earn Nordstrom Notes! For every $2,000 you spend {it can be less if you shop during double or triple points} you will get a $20 Note. It is basically a gift card that can be spent on anything you want! It's just a way they reward you for shopping.

>> Spend $100 the same day you sign up for a card and get a $20 Nordstrom Note

>> You can get reimburse for alterations made on Nordstrom purchases in the form of Nordstrom Notes

>> Personal Triple Point Days! Depending on your level {Your level will increase as your annual purchases reach the next level}, you will have anywhere from 1 to 4 days where you can choose to make it a triple point day! Let's say you are spending some birthday money and are buying quite a few more things and spending more than you normally would. At checkout, select it as your personal triple point day and you will earn 3 times the amount of points towards a Nordstrom Note!

>> Of course the best perk of a Nordstrom Card, in my opinion, is early access to the big Anniversary Sale!

I am not spilling my guts about the Nordstrom Card because I am getting paid for it {I wish!} or because I make money off of people signing up. I just really believe that it is a good card to have because it has such great benefits! If you're interested, make sure to sign up now so that you can access the sale from the very beginning!

And don't worry, I'll be up, scavenging for the best deals on my favorite items and will share them all with you ASAP when the sale starts!

So... LiketoKnow.it. If you have followed along on Instagram for long, you have probably seen me talk about it several times. Many of my posts end with something like this: @liketoknow.it www.liketk.it/1wwbW #liketkit

I don't know how many times I have been perusing Instagram and I see something that I want to buy right then!! However, once you comment & ask someone it can take a while to get a reply. I know that I get questions in the comments of my pictures, and depending on the day, it can unfortunately take a while to get back to someone! Annoying... I know! & Even then, simply telling you my top is from J.Crew doesn't exactly help narrow it down since there are literally hundreds of pages. It can be a huge hassle & very time consuming trying to hunt items down! But the good news is, I save the links to things I buy so that I can easily link them to each Instagram photo.

Joining this free program is super easy!

Step 1: Sign up with LiketoKnow.it & link your email and Instagram account

Step 2: 'Like' any LiketoKnow.it enabled photo {look for something like this: @liketoknow.it www.liketk.it/1wwbW #liketkit}

Step 3: Open your email inbox a few moments later to get all of the direct links. Simply click on the item you are interested in & it will take you straight to the product! The emails {& your LiketoKnow.it page} will show all of your 'liked' photos just like this:

Not a big fan of constant emails? No big deal! You can change the email preferences however you want. I have mine set to send weekly! You can also choose instantly & daily. If there is an item I really want right then & there, I will just head over to the direct link posted with the picture!

LiketoKnow.it really is a great service for everyone! It makes shopping a breeze! Travel: What To Pack For An All Inclusive Vacation

I absolutely love to travel! My husband & I have been fortunate enough to explore nine countries together since we got married. However, our Dominican Republic vacation this summer was our first All-Inclusive experience & it was certainly a little bit different... In the BEST way possible! I don't know that I'll ever go on another beach vacay without going that route! We stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana & it was complete perfection. The location, food, service, & rooms were all right on point. However, packing was a bit of a challenge because I wasn't sure what to expect. So I thought I would share with you my thoughts, tips & tricks for successfully {& lightly} packing for an All-Inclusive getaway!

TIP #1: Pack AT LEAST 1 full day's worth of clothes in your carry on. I have heard this many times but didn't follow through. My luggage was lost the first 2 days of our vacation and I had nothing- no swim suit, face wash, clothes, etc. It was a miserable time in a tropical location with nothing but what I wore on the plane. Save yourself the headache & take what you might need in case the worst happens!

Swimsuits: I would recommend taking 3! You will probably be on the beach more than three days but you can easily dry them overnight.  Try mixing up the styles you take: A 1 piece with fun cut-outs, a simple bikini, and a printed 2 piece for example.

Cover-Ups: 3-4 options would be best. There are so many different styles of cover ups that it would be great to bring along a few different options to choose from! I packed a fun dress, a printed romper [this one is cute too!], and a couple of kimonos. {How cute is the OTHERWORLD one in today's pictures?!!} Keep in mind that if you are going to run & grab food from a restaurant for lunch, they will probably have a dress code that requires more than a swimsuit. The majority of ours required just a simple cover-up & all of the options I brought along worked!

Hats: I am hat obsessed! I would recommend bringing at least 2 hats! I brought along a smaller fedora as well as a large floppy hat {under $20!}. These are perfect for lounging by the pool & covering up crazy hair! I wore my fedora on the plane & packed my large floppy hat in my suitcase. {Tip: Put the hat in the middle of your suitcase and pack clothes & shoes around it. I did this & had no problems with lost shape!}

Sunglasses: We all have our Ray Ban, Kate Spade, or Prada sunnies that we love. However, keep these away from the ocean!! Reserve them for the pool area where you won't be battling waves. Bring along a few cheap options {like these under $10} so that you won't be heartbroken if they get washed away. I actually lost a cheap pair when a huge wave took me out but luckily, I didn't sweat it too much since they were under $10.

Shoes: This was my biggest packing battle! I would suggest bringing 1 pair of good 'ol flippy flops to walk to the beach or around the pool in. I failed to think this through & had to wear a pretty nice pair around which made me nervous! You should also bring 2 pairs of nicer sandals. These can be worn to restaurants & evening shows. My Tory Burch sandals & Jack Rogers were perfect for this! Lastly, a pair of wedges would be good for the fancier dinners! We got really dressed up one night & I was glad I had these wedges to wear :)

Dresses: I would bring 4-5 dresses! A definite beach resort staple. I wore dresses for 95% of our trip. Whether pool side or to dinner, I wore several styles of dresses during our trip. I would recommend looking for light sundresses, a maxi dress, and a fun & flirty dress for dinner! Lilly Pulitzer dresses are ideal options in my opinion!

Shorts: 2 pairs of shorts should be sufficient for your trip. {These were my favorite!!} If you are doing any excursions {horse back riding, zip lining, etc.} you will certainly want a pair of shorts! They can also be great to throw on over a {dry} swimsuit to grab a bite to eat during the day.

Tops: I brought along way too many tops! 3-4 should be more than enough to pack for your vacation! I would suggest light, airy tanks & tees that will dry easily if they get wet.

Bug Spray & Sunscreen: I applied sunscreen every hour and still ended up with a pretty good burn. The Dominican sun was much harsher than what I am used to in Oklahoma. Make sure you bring PLENTY because you will way overpay if you have to buy it at your hotel. The cheapest at our resort? $50. So yes, pack lots. Also, the mosquitos are crazy! If you eat dinner outside at all, you will want to bring bug spray with you to frequently reapply. At one of our beach side dinners we got chased inside by large swarms! Yikes!

Bags: I used this large weekender as my carry on and was able to fit a large amount of things in it for travel. I also brought along a crossbody that I used most nights. It was small enough to just stash a few necessities in {lip gloss, money, phone, room key} & it wasn't a pain to tote around. I also brought along this fun clutch for a night out ! Lastly, bring a pool bag. This should be something that is okay if it gets wet, sandy and potentially ruined. I was constantly throwing water bottles, sunscreen, shoes, coverups, books, etc. in it all day!

Random Extras:
>> Aloe Vera- For the inevitable burn
>> Light Jacket- If you are cold natured like I am, you might want this at night walking along the beach or catching a late show
>> First Aid- You never know when you might need a bandaid for a blister {my husband got one running on the beach}, Tylenol for a sun headache, etc.
>> Large Plastic Cup- I can't recommend this enough! At All-Inclusive resorts, your drinks will all be free! However, they have small cups and in the hot sun, the ice melts quickly. Have your drinks made in your cup so that you get more {fewer trips to the bar / tracking down the pool guys} and it will stay cold much longer! LOVE this Lilly one for $15!
>> Minimal Makeup- Show off your newly acquired glow! Wear small amounts of makeup to dinner because 1) you should have a new tan & 2) the incredibly high humidity can make your face of makeup feel like it's melting! If you bring mascara, make sure it is water proof.
>> Nail Polish: I got my fingers & toes done before we left. However, the sand & concrete can do a number on your fresh polish & I wish that I had brought along a bottle for a few touch ups!

The Obvious:
Sleep Clothes, Undergarments, Toiletries, Phone/Computer Chargers, Books

Overall, you should be able to pack everything in a small-ish suitcase & not have to worry about what you are missing from your closet at home. We will definitely be heading back to the Excellence Punta Cana in the future & I can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for an All-Inclusive getaway. Let me know if you can think of any other vacay necessities that I might have missed :)
