Hi, friends! I had the huge honor of being a guest on the Surviving Motherhood podcast! Cris & Rachel are the hosts and they were so friendly and sweet. Even though that was the first time we talked [aside from lots of emails!], it felt like I was just catching up with old friends. Definitely check out their podcast & let me know what you think. They invited me on to chat a little bit about mom style, my closet staples, & other fashion favorites. Right up my alley huh? 😉 I wanted to put together an easily accessible place to shop all of the things I talk about on the podcast! These are seriously my tried & true favorites that I highly recommend to everyone!
5 closet staples
1. Jean Jacket
Wear this in any season! It’s the perfect layering piece for almost every outfit. This is my favorite!
2. A GOOD Pair of Jeans
I swear by Wit & Wisdom Absolution Jeans. They have elastic on the inside of the waistband. That means they don’t stretch out when you’re chasing kids all day, up and down, etc. I own white jeans, blue jeans, olive jeans and pink jeans from this brand!
3. Stripe Tee
I have lost count of how many I have in my closet. Whoops! They just pair perfectly with jeans, joggers, leggings, etc. It’s easy to do a little print mix to make you appear more ‘dressed up‘ for the day too! This is my favorite short sleeve one & this is my favorite long sleeve one.
4. Leopard Flats
Leopard is really a neutral in my book. I wear it all too often throughout the year but primarily in the Fall & Winter. A simple pair of flats is an easy way to incorporate the print into your wardrobe. Get these for major casual comfort or these for a bit more dressed up!
5. A Go-To Cardigan
I’m all about layers! And a good cardigan is a must as a mom! Throw it on over a stripe tee for a quick outfit! Get a good neutral so it will match lots of outfits. Currently my favorites are this waffle cardigan and this blazer cardigan!
Favorite Shirt to Wear Under Cardigans?
Stripes, stripes & more stripes! ha! All kidding aside, I love to pair something with either a print, graphic or a fun detail under my cardi.
Best Trends for Fall?
It’s hard to narrow down but I love leopard [duh], colorblock cardigans and jumpers!
One Trend I’m Over?
Crop tops! But was I ever really into this trend anyways?! ha!
Best Fashionable Flats / Mom Shoes?
I could list like 10 different pairs that I love. But I have to say the Keds x Kate Spade collection are my favorite. Obviously fashionable but oh, so comfortable too!! I have the leopard and the gold glitter. They have good solid color options too!
Favorite Patterns to Wear?
Have I made this clear already? lol Leopard, stripes and gingham!
Favorite Brand of Leggings?
I have several pairs of leggings but my go-to are from Lou & Grey! They are so soft and super affordable!
Favorite Accessory?
Earrings! I love a dainty necklace but if I could only put on one thing each morning, it would be earrings. I love statement earrings as much as the next blogger but those aren’t always practical as a mom. In fact, most days I am wearing something super lightweight- usually a stud. These are my favorite stud earrings right now. But I also love everything from Jane & Cope. They are leather earrings- SO light!!! And almost all of them are $12 + free shipping!
